‘Where is the President?’  ADC demands answers over Tinubu’s extended vacation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is asking the Presidency to explain why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is still out of the country days after his scheduled vacation ended.

The President was supposed to return to Nigeria on September 21, 2026, after a three-week break, but six days later, he is yet to arrive.

The ADC Presidential Campaign Council released a statement on Sunday stating that Nigeria is currently dealing with tough economic hardship and security issues and that the country cannot afford any uncertainty at the highest level of government.

Although the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has been directed to keep representing the President at official functions, the ADC argues this administrative move does not answer the question of who is constitutionally in charge right now.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the ADC’s Director of Media and Publicity, stated that the Presidency owes citizens the truth.

“Nigerians who elected President Tinubu are entitled to know where their President is”, Ologbondiyan.

He added that presidential movements are not private matters when they affect the governance of over 200 million people.

The opposition party warned that keeping quiet will only create more public anxiety and fuel unnecessary rumors, urging the presidency to choose openness over secrecy.
