The Federal Government has set a target to create one million export-linked jobs for Nigerians by 2030 to tap into the global outsourcing market.
The announcement was made in New York during the global launch of the “Hire From Nigeria” campaign, an event held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The “Hire From Nigeria” campaign is a private-sector project fully supported by the government. It aims to connect Nigerian tech experts, creatives, and skilled professionals directly with international employers and clients.
Spearheaded by Tech4Dev and Univelcity alongside the government, this campaign is set to build trust and make Nigerian talent easier for the world to find.
Joel Ogunsola, President of Tech4Dev, revealed that Africa’s outsourcing market is growing three times faster than other regions. He noted that about 20,000 Nigerians are already working for both local and foreign companies in tech, data, and customer operations.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia explained that Nigeria is ready to meet global demand, as the global market for outsourced services tops $1 trillion.
According to Shettima, Nigeria has a greater advantage over other African nations due to its young, digitally skilled, and English-speaking workforce.
Shettima added that Africa’s current share of the market is still very small, and that Nigeria will be the next frontier for global outsourcing.
