Bandits abduct, kill Katsina LG Health Secretary

Armed bandits have killed Sa’adu Dantutture, the Health Secretary of Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, after invading his hometown, Dantutture in Kafur LGA.

The attack happened on Wednesday night around 11:00 PM when the armed group stormed the community, looted local shops before seizing Dantutture, who previously served as the Director of Primary Healthcare in Funtua LGA. Dantutture was shot dead while attempting to escape from their captivity.

According to reports, troops from the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade and local vigilantes quickly stepped in to confront the attackers. During the confrontation, three suspected bandits were killed, while another fled the scene, abandoning a weapon.

Dantutture has since been laid to rest in his hometown according to Islamic rite.

Fatima Sa’adu, his widow, described him as a humble man who spent his life serving his people. She pleaded with the government to do more to tackle insecurity in the region.

“My late husband was a man of the people. He lived a very simple and humble life. This family has been devastated by his death”, Fatima.

His son, Mu’azzam Sa’adu, also urged security forces to take more action against banditry, stating that families deserve to feel safe in their homes.

Meanwhile, the Funtua LGA Chairman, Abdulmutallib Sulaiman Goya, visited the family to pay his respects, remembering Dantutture as a dedicated and honest civil servant.
