Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has revealed that she has been approached multiple times by individuals from the Presidency and her Senate colleagues to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but she has rejected the proposition.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a first-term Senator in the 10th Assembly, made the disclosure during a recent interview on the Mic On Podcast, posted on YouTube on Saturday. She emphasized her commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite the party’s internal crisis.

No, I wouldn’t. I don’t have to follow the bandwagon. I don’t have to succumb to any threats or fall for any cajolery – Natasha

‎Senator Natasha is an opposition figure who defeated the APC candidate, Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere, in the 2023 senatorial election after a legal battle that ended at the tribunal in September 2025.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also stated that former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, may contest the Kogi Central senatorial seat in the 2027 election, the same seat she currently occupies;

‎ If by any chance I make up my mind after due consultation with my family, constituents and political party, and I am on the ballot against former Governor Yahaya Bello in 2027, then I would say, bring it on. I am his nightmare. He was a sitting governor and wielded all the powers at his disposal against me, and I defeated his candidate in 2023

‎She stressed that her primary loyalty is to her constituents and her conscience.
