The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has demanded that President Bola Tinubu withdraw the recently submitted ambassadorial list, labeling the nominees as disgraced propagandists, characterless politicians, and public officials who possess an integrity deficit.

‎In a statement released on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP strongly condemned the list, describing the nominations as “reprehensible and scandalous” and a reflection of the President’s low estimation of Nigeria. The party argues that sending envoys with “tainted political profiles” is a disservice that will diminish the country’s standing globally.

‎The PDP focused its criticism on the inclusion of the past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). ‎The party expressed shock over the nomination of Professor Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure as INEC Chairman concluded in October 2025. The PDP argues that offering him an ambassadorial appointment is a skewed reward system designed as an incentive to the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan to deliver flawed elections in 2027 in expectation of similar future rewards.

‎The party stressed that the list includes individuals perceived negatively by Nigerians and the global community for their anti-democratic activities and questionable character.

‎The PDP criticized the nearly three-year delay in producing the list, stressing that the nominees are simply being used to settle political IOUs.

‎The party urged President Tinubu to renominate only those with stellar democratic credentials and high moral standing, capable of commanding global respect.

‎The PDP warned that international respect for Nigeria cannot be separated from the integrity of its ambassadors, setting up the country for a diplomatic all-time low by confirming such controversial individuals.
