Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has assured the parents of the 25 schoolgirls abducted by bandits from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in the Danko Wasagu Local Government Area that his administration is fully committed to securing their safe return.

‎The Governor cut short an official engagement in Abuja to visit the Maga community on Monday, November 17, where he sympathized with parents and also made an announcement about a combined team of military, police tactical units, and local vigilantes, under a mandate from President Bola Tinubu, to launch a manhunt and search and rescue operation;

We gave them confidence, and we gave them our word that we will do everything possible to ensure that their children are rescued

‎Armed bandits, reportedly carrying sophisticated weapons, invaded the GGCSS Maga boarding school. Dawn Herald reported that the attackers killed the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, and injured at least one other staff member while abducting the students from their dormitories.

‎The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has also visited Kebbi State, ordering troops to increase day and night operations until all the abducted students are safely rescued.
