Former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has publicly warned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to exercise restraint after a heated confrontation between Wike and a military officer in Abuja.

Senator Sani cautioned Wike, via his verified social media account, against such confrontations;

Wike is doing an excellent job in Abuja but should not be encouraged to do this kind of stunt with soldiers

This warning from Shehu Sani intends to throw light on the sensitivity of directly challenging armed military personnel in the performance of their duties, even if those duties are questioned.

‎The incident, captured in a viral video, occurred when Minister Wike accused the uniformed officer of unlawfully guarding a parcel of public land allegedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff in the Gaduwa District of the FCT, which was improperly appropriated. ‎The military officer, however, defended his presence and the land acquisition process, insisting the actions were lawful, and that the intervention of the minister was unwarranted.

‎The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has a history of disputes over land allocation, often involving high-ranking government officials. Minister Wike, upon assuming his role, vowed to restore the city’s master plan by addressing illegal land appropriation, which has countlessly put him in direct conflict with entrenched interests.
