The Dangote refinery is set to commence its free petrol distribution campaign starting Monday, according to reports.

Anthony Chiejina, spokesperson for the Dangote Group, told correspondents that the programme will initially cover the South West region, the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), as well as Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States.

Alongside this rollout, the refinery has reduced petrol prices to N841 per litre in Lagos and the South West, with a slight increase to N851 per litre in Abuja and the other mentioned states.

The project, originally scheduled for an August launch, faced delays due to logistical difficulties in China.

Over 1,000 trucks have already been received by the refinery to support the commencement of this project. Additional states are expected to benefit as more vehicles arrive in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Dangote announced a large-scale deployment of compressed natural gas (CNG) powered trucks aimed at strengthening logistics and cutting costs across the domestic distribution network.

Despite the recent surge in CNG prices, which doubled just last week, the company remain committed to rolling out 10,000 CNG trucks nationwide this year.
