Faiza Abdulkadir, who earns a modest monthly wage of N30,000 as a cleaner, in Maiduguri, Borno State, returned an unexpected sum of N4.8 million that was mistakenly credited to her bank account.
Faiza’s decision to give back the considerable amount has rained praises from both her community and banking officials. In an interview, she explained that her actions were deeply rooted in her faith and moral values.
The large sum arrived in my account by mistake. I chose to send it back because it is not mine. I knew keeping the money would bring me no peace. I returned it because I want to be blessed in the hereafter. I am grateful to have the opportunity to do what is right. It is a test of character, and I want to set a good example for my children – Faiza shared
Neighbors and bank employees alike praised her integrity. A resident in the same community, said that Faiza has always been known for her honesty and discipline. She lives simply with her five children, working diligently at the health center.
At the bank, her honesty stood in contrast to other incidents where accidental deposits led to disputes. One staff member recounted,
We’ve seen cases where individuals kept and spent wrongly credited funds, causing major problems for the bank. Faiza’s choice to do the right thing is rare and commendable
Faiza Abdulkadir’s remarkable act serves as a reminder of the profound impact of integrity in everyday life. Her story is an inspiration to others to choose principle over temptation.
