The Jigawa Public Complaints Commission (PCC) has forged a partnership with the state Police Command aimed at enhancing fairness and accountability in delivering justice across the region.

Commissioner Barde Shehu, accompanied by his senior team, paid a courtesy visit on Friday to the Police Commissioner, CP Dahiru Muhammad, at the Police Headquarters in Dutse, the state capital. During the meeting, Shehu expressed gratitude for the Police Command’s continual efforts to maintain peace and order in Jigawa.

Shehu took the opportunity to outline the mission and scope of the Public Complaints Commission, explaining its unique role as Nigeria’s official ombudsman. He described the body as a neutral mediator, responsible for examining grievances between citizens and government agencies while promoting transparency and just resolutions.

We function as a non-judicial agency tasked with investigating complaints, facilitating dialogue, and recommending solutions aimed at harmony. Our mandate does not include law enforcement or judicial proceedings.

The Commissioner restated the Commission’s commitment to reinforcing good governance and safeguarding the rights of citizens by collaborating effectively with institutions such as the police to build public confidence.

CP Dahiru Muhammad commended the PCC leadership for the visit and for clarifying the Commission’s important contributions. He reaffirmed the Police Command’s readiness to work hand in hand with the Commission.

Our shared objective is to promote justice, fairness, and trust within the community. Strengthening this alliance will enhance service delivery and sustain law enforcement efforts across the state

The engagement concluded on a cordial note with the exchange of tokens symbolizing mutual respect and dedication to serving Jigawa residents. Both sides pledged to deepen cooperation to better address public concerns through a robust institutional relationship.
