No fewer than 500 youth and women entrepreneurs across the eight local government areas of Kaduna South Senatorial District have received empowerment items facilitated by Senator Sunday Marshall Katung.
The distribution, held in Zonkwa on Monday, saw beneficiaries receive refrigerators, generators, and industrial sewing machines to help expand small-scale businesses and promote self-reliance.
The intervention, made possible through Senator Katung’s collaboration with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM), was conducted by Barr. Simon Arabo, Director General of the defunct SMK 2023 campaign organisation, who represented the senator at the event.
Barr. Arabo said the programme targeted young people and women already in productive ventures but in need of essential tools to grow. He stressed that the transparent selection process cut across party lines to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
“This empowerment was not about politics, but about economic empowerment of people.
“The selection process cut across party lines, and the beneficiaries are fortunate to be chosen from thousands who wished to selected. We’re calling on the beneficiaries to use these items to expand their businesses and touch the lives of others in their communities.” Arabo appealed.
Earlier, Chairman of the Distribution Committee and former House of Representatives Minority Leader, Gideon Lukas Gwani, praised the senator’s commitment to grassroots empowerment.
“What you see here is the senator’s deliberate effort to change lives,” Gwani.
said.
“The process was transparent, fair, and non-partisan to ensure genuine entrepreneurs benefitted, regardless of political affiliation.”
Beneficiaries, including Hajiya Maimuna Adamu from Jema’a LGA and Mohammed Zakaria from Kachia LGA, expressed gratitude, saying the items would boost productivity and transform their businesses.
