Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, reaffirmed their supremacy on the continent by defeating Mali 78–64 in the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket final on Sunday.
They made history with this triumph as the first African team to win the championship five consecutive times. The spirited performance not only secured them the 2025 title but also underlined their enduring dominance in the tournament.
Their latest win extended an incredible unbeaten streak that now stands at 29 games, a run that began in 2015. “This team has worked so hard, and it’s an honour to be part of this history,” a D’Tigress player said after the game. Their consistent success continues to inspire hope for a brighter future in Nigerian and African women’s basketball.
