The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has debunked a widely circulated message on social media claiming that it has begun recruitment for the 2025/2026 Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) and Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC).

The Force described the announcement as entirely false and cautioned the public against falling victim to misinformation.

In an official statement released on Thursday, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, said, “The attention of the Nigerian Air Force has been drawn to fraudulent messages circulating online, falsely claiming that the NAF has commenced recruitment for the 2025/2026 BMTC and DSSC. The Nigerian Air Force wishes to state that no such recruitment exercise is currently ongoing.”

Ejodame emphasized that the NAF recruitment process is conducted free of charge, without the involvement of agents or intermediaries. He added that recruitment is based purely on merit and transparency, and the NAF does not solicit or accept payment from applicants at any point.

To avoid being misled, the public has been advised to rely only on the NAF’s verified social media accounts, its official website, and trusted national newspapers for authentic information. “Any genuine recruitment exercise will be widely publicised through appropriate and credible platforms,” the statement assured.

The NAF concluded by urging Nigerians to exercise caution and remain vigilant to avoid falling for fraudulent recruitment scams, stressing the importance of verifying all such claims before taking action.
