The only female governorship candidate in Kano State, Furera Ahmad, has pledged to tackle drug abuse and political thuggery if elected in the upcoming general elections.
Ahmad, who is contesting under Because Of Our Tomorrow (BOOT) party, stated that her administration would prioritize the total rehabilitation of the vulnerable youth demographic of the state.
Speaking during a media engagement in Kano on Wednesday, the gubernatorial candidate condemned the attitude of political actors who intentionally arm young people and exploit them during electioneering campaigns.
She stated that as a mother, she possesses the firsthand experience required to identify and address the root causes of societal decay before they escalate.
“I will place priority on the plight of women, children and youths especially on the issue of drug abuse and thuggery. We are mothers who are always close to women and children. Most men don’t notice drug abuse or bad behavior of their children early until it has gone too far,” Ahmad stated.
She urged Nigerians to shun vote-buying, and vote for competent individuals, warning electorates not to mortgage their franchise for basic food items.
