A real estate company in Nigeria has reportedly dismissed its Human Resources Manager for attempting to profile a top-performing employee over his past involvement in internet fraud.

Dawn Herald gathered from X that the worker, an alleged former cybercriminal, secured a ₦50 million property deal during his first week on the job. As compensation, the employee received a five per cent commission on the transaction and a rented apartment from the owner of the company.

Within three months, the salesman outperformed his senior colleagues, earning a Toyota Corolla and other incentives for his consecutive sales records.

Everything took a different turn when the HR manager approached the owner of the company to raise concerns about the past involvement of the employee in cybercrime. The manager warned that the history of the worker in cybercrime is a threat to the organisation.

The real estate boss, instead of sacking the alleged ex-fraudster, sacked the HR manager over the profiling. The owner later visited the office to publicly commend the salesman, handing him an additional ₦5 million bonus to encourage his productivity.
