A Nigerian youth has ignited debate across social media platforms after a video surfaced showing him tearing his original university degree, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and O’level certificates.
In the viral footage circulating on X, the man displayed the documents to the camera, showing his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, where he graduated with a second-class upper division.
He immediately shredded the academic records, due to frustration over the lack of economic opportunities attached to his educational qualifications.
The young man added that his academic journey yielded no positive results for his livelihood, stating that it is better to be uneducated than holding on to useless credentials.
“I want to be illiterate. I don’t want to be a graduate again. I regret going to school; it didn’t help me. See, this is my certificate. Here is my BSc, this is a second-class upper in BSc in psychology. My NYSC certificate, O’level, these are the original copies. I am tearing them”.
