A 55-year-old driver narrowly escaped death after a passenger train collided with his vehicle at the PWD railway crossing in Lagos State.
The incident involved an Agege-bound train and a Honda saloon car with registration number EKY 902 JT, which sustained serious damage from the impact.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), alongside security personnel, rescued the motorist and cleared the wrecked vehicle off the tracks to enable the train to resume its journey.
Heavy traffic congestion built up around the PWD axis after the crash, while LASTMA officers handed over the damaged vehicle to security operatives to continue investigation into the cause of the collision.
LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the emergency responders for their intervention, and advised motorists to remain vigilant whenever they approached designated railway corridors.
The traffic agency also mentioned that strict adherence to safety guidelines and road regulations remains essential to preventing avoidable accidents and protecting lives across the state.
