A 31-year-old woman, Funke Femiloba, has been remanded in prison custody after being charged with posing as an OPay staff to collect money from people in Lagos.
According to Daily Trust, the police arraigned Femiloba at an Ikeja Magistrate Court under charge number MIK/P/53/26 following an investigation into the impersonation case.
The police accused Femiloba of conspiring with other suspects who are still at large to carry out fraudulent activities around Ikeja, the state capital.
Prosecutors, during court proceedings, filed a four-count charge against the defendant under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The charges include conspiracy, falsely representing herself as an employee of OPay Digital Services Limited, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and obtaining money under false pretences.
The magistrate adjourned the case until November 30, 2026, for hearing, but Femiloba will be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
