The Football Association says it is reviewing possible action against Manchester City after an independent commission found the club guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules.

The ruling comes after an extensive investigation into financial records of Manchester City over a nine-season period.

The commission revealed that the club arranged fake commercial contracts, presented inaccurate financial accounts, and hid its true financial standing from auditors and football regulators. It also found that City broke Premier League and UEFA spending limits and failed to cooperate fully with investigators.

In an official statement released on Friday, the FA said the findings touch on the core values of the sport.

“The Independent Commission’s decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game. We are carefully considering the decision and its implications and will take action where appropriate”, the FA.

Meanwhile, Manchester City has rejected the findings of the commission, promising to appeal the decision to prove its innocence.
