The United States Government has sent its warm congratulations to Nigeria on its 66th Independence Anniversary, promising to strengthen the diplomatic and economic relationship between both nations.
The US Department of State issued the congratulatory message through its Office of the Spokesman on Thursday, acknowledging the meaningful and productive conversations both countries have shared over the past year.
The US government acknowledged Nigeria’s influence as Africa’s largest democracy and one of the biggest economies on the continent. The statement also mentioned the vital role Nigeria played in driving economic growth and keeping the country stable.
The State Department also stated that both countries share common interests, particularly in building commercial ties, protecting religious freedom, and promoting democratic values.
“Our two nations are bound by a shared commitment to continued progress on our common priorities, rooted in mutual democratic principles, the protection of religious freedom, a growing commercial relationship, and a commitment to fostering peace and security”, the statement read.
The US wrapped up its message by wishing Nigerians lasting peace, unity, and prosperity for generations to come.
