NLC applauds Kebbi Gov over salary increment, allowances for teachers

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kebbi State has praised Governor Nasir Idris after he approved new salary adjustments and responsibility allowances for primary school teachers across the state.

In a statement released on Monday, September 28, NLC State Chairman Comrade Murtala Usman described the increment as a welcome development and unprecedented for primary school educators in the region.

The package includes both a revised salary structure and special responsibility allowances.

Usman commended the governor for listening to workers and restoring pride to the teaching profession.

“We commend the governor for the kind gesture extended to primary teachers and we rejoice with them for the new salary structure and the responsibility allowances. No doubt, it will give teachers a new sense of belonging”, Usman.

Governor Idris, a former teacher and union leader himself, previously set up a state committee to address pay discrepancies and harmonise primary school salaries.

The union chief urged teachers to reciprocate the efforts of the governor by being dedicated in their daily duties, maintaining high standards, and delivering quality instruction in their classrooms.
