Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced that he will retire from active politics and step down from public office once he finishes his tenure as governor.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Friday, September 25, Otti made it clear that he has no plans to run for president, contest for a Senate seat, or seek any other political role in the future.
He explained that his time in governance is a specific calling to serve Abians, and once his work is done, he intends to step aside rather than build a career out of holding public office.
“I had said just a few days ago that by the time I’m done with this, I’ll retire…So I’m not going to run for any other thing, not local government chairman, not Senate, not president, no”, Otti.
During the interview, Governor Otti also cleared the air regarding his relationship with former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and other political leaders. He dismissed claims of any political feud and assured the public that, in the true spirit of democracy, politicians from all parties including Obi and Atiku are completely free to campaign in Abia State.
