The Nigerian entertainment industry on Saturday evening mourns the death of veteran actress and producer Allwell Ademola.
Dawn Herald gathered that the 43-year-old filmmaker suffered a heart attack at her residence and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Ademola, the granddaughter of the first Chief Justice of Nigeria, Sir Adetokunbo Ademola, was a beloved figure in the Yoruba film industry, known for her versatility as an actress, singer, and director.
Barely 24 hours before her passing, Allwell shared a video on Instagram that has since gone viral. In the clip, she was seen singing a prayer for the end of the year;
In the name of Jesus, I will see the end of this year; this year will not see my end
The irony of her death occurring just four days before the start of 2026 has left fans and colleagues in a state of disbelief.
Allwell Ademola was a graduate of OAU, she was a versatile talent, acting, directing, and producing in both Yoruba and English-language films.
She was known for hit movies like Láródó Ọjọ́, Etí kẹta, and Ayé Kejì, and was credited with mentoring several rising stars in the industry.
