Gunmen abduct 5 residents in Gwarzo LGA, Kano State

Gunmen launched a fresh attack in Zurin Mahauta village in Lakwaya district of Gwarzo Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State on Sunday night, abducting five residents.

‎The attack occurred under the cover of darkness in Zurin Mahauta, a village in the Lakwaya town area, which falls within Gwarzo LGA, located in the Kano North.

The village head of Zurin Mahauta, Murtala Mai Unguwa, confirmed the incident, stating that security operatives specifically, the Army’s 3 Brigade, were alerted immediately and are currently working tirelessly to track down the abductors and to secure the release of the victim.

Captain Babatunde Zubairu, the Army 3 Brigade Public Relations Officer, also confirmed the abduction of the five residents and the deployment of troops to rescue the abducted and to reunite them to their families.

The constant fear of attack has sacked families from their homes, with many seeking refuge in nearby villages and states as a result of the reoccurring attacks. Residents are calling on the government to deploy more troops to the region in order to flush out these criminal elements and to restore peace in the region.
