The Zamfara State Police Command successfully foiled a bandit attack on Kuraje village in the Damba area of Gusau Local Government Area, rescuing 25 abducted residents, including 10 women and 15 children.
The rescue operation, which occurred on Friday night, involved a quick response by joint security teams.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed that a large group of armed bandits, wielding dangerous weapons, attacked Kuraje village at approximately 9:45 pm on November 21, firing sporadically and abducting the victims.
Upon receiving the call, joint Police patrol teams from Damba Division and the Department of Operations, Gusau, quickly mobilized alongside the state’s Community Protection Guards (CPG).
The security operatives quickly pursued the fleeing bandits and engaged them, leading to the recovery of all victims.

The rescued women and children were relocated to Sabongari Damba for safety and profiling before being reunited with their families. The State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, commended the bravery of the officers involved in the successful operation.
The successful rescue in Zamfara comes amid a worsening security crisis across the North-West and North-Central regions, characterized by mass abductions targeting communities and schools.
