Regina Daniels’ marriage to the much older politician and businessman Ned Nwoko has been a constant source of controversy since 2019, over the age disparity and allegations that Daniels was forced into marriage by her mother, Rita Daniels, for financial reasons, due to the status of Nwoko.
The actress insisted that she does not regret anything about the decision, stressing that she entered the marriage on her own terms willingly.
Please stop insulting my mom, I beg you. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She’s my God on earth…She warned me, but she tried her best.
Stop saying I got married out of greed. We were not broke…For the record, I don’t regret anything. Na only me carry my leg enter – Regina Daniels
Regina Daniels further detailed the intensity of the resistance from her family when she decided to marry Nwoko;
Everyone said no. My mom warned me, my brothers were fighting, breaking bottles. I even went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me! My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life’
Daniels also vowed to protect her children regardless of future marital challenges with Ned Nwoko;
I’m going to fight for my children. I’ll take them, train them, and raise them with or without your support
The actress’s statement is seen by many as an attempt to control the public narrative and to draw a boundary around her private life.
