Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, Luis Enrique, was urgently hospitalized following a serious crash on his bike last Friday. The 55-year-old Spaniard, fresh off leading PSG to Champions League glory, is set for surgery due to a fractured collarbone.

The club shared on X that Enrique sustained the injury during a cycling mishap and immediately received emergency care. Although the details remain unclear, whether he was hit by a vehicle or fell solo, the incident has sidelined one of football’s most respected tacticians.

Known for his passion for cycling, Enrique regularly challenges himself in demanding races; in fact, he completed a grueling 700-kilometer, eight-day event in South Africa just two years ago.

Under Enrique’s, PSG achieved a historic treble last season, culminating with a spectacular 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final held in Munich. Despite falling short against Chelsea in the Club World Cup final this past July, the French squad started the new domestic campaign on a high note.

PSG faces a challenging run of fixtures. They will defend their Champions League crown starting September 17 with a clash against Atalanta, followed by the much-anticipated ‘Le Classique’ derby against Marseille and a visit to Enrique’s former club, Barcelona, is scheduled for October 1.
