President Bola Tinubu has issued a marching order to the nation’s security chiefs to rescue all abducted citizens and ensure the total eradication of terrorist and bandit camps across the country. The president ordered the armed forces to guarantee a completely secure environment for voters ahead of the January 2027 general elections.

Briefing State House correspondents on Thursday after a Security Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), disclosed that the military will maintain absolute neutrality during the polls. He confirmed that the Federal Government is scaling up operational capacity, with the President scheduled to inaugurate about 10 newly acquired combat aircraft and helicopters soon.

According to a report by the PUNCH, president Tinubu has authorized the deployment of thousands of forest guards to secure reclaimed territories and prevent reoccupation by fleeing criminal elements.

The national Security Council also deliberated on designating national power facilities as critical assets following repeated sabotage that recently plunged several northern states into prolonged darkness.

The Defence Minister dismissed allegations of underage recruitment into the armed forces, emphasizing that terrorists are the ones exploiting children. He also promised a safe, intimidation-free election season, assuring Nigerians that they have nothing to worry about when exercising their franchise.
