The management of Gamji College of Health Technology in Sokoto has debunked online rumors claiming that 18 of its students were kidnapped by terrorists on their way to Oyo State.
The school cleared the air in a public statement released on Monday by its Registrar, Bello Abdulrahman, over a report that went viral on October 5, claiming that terrorists ambushed a vehicle carrying 18 students from the college. The unverified report also alleged that the attackers killed the driver during the incident.
The management of the college has confirmed that all traveling students are completely safe and have already arrived at their various destinations to continue their academic training.
“The College wishes to categorically state that the said report is FALSE, MISLEADING and does not reflect the true situation…No student of Gamji College of Health Technology, Sokoto, was kidnapped, and there was no such incident involving our students”, Abdulrahman.
The college urged parents, guardians, and the general public to stop spreading the fake news and to rely only on official school channels for updates.
