President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria’s toughest economic days are over, as his government officially shifts its focus toward job creation, digital connectivity, and business growth.

Speaking during his October 1 Independence Day broadcast, the president said his government plans to prioritize enterprise support, expand digital connectivity, and provide Nigerian businesses with better infrastructure and easier access to credit.

The President also shared several major economic wins from his first three and a half years in office. According to the president, the economy of the country, grew by more than four percent in 2026. He celebrated a massive drop in inflation, stabilized foreign exchange rates, and a rebuilt foreign reserve. He also revealed that Nigeria hit a record-breaking $6 billion in non-oil exports last year.

While he acknowledged that millions of Nigerians still struggle with the high costs of food, school fees, and transport, he promised that his administration is aggressively working to bring those costs down.

“The emergency treatment is over. The foundation has been repaired…Our objective is not to manage poverty more efficiently. We will defeat it”, Tinubu.

He also added that social programs will keep running to support those in need while the economy fully heals.
