The Federal Government has launched a nationwide registration exercise under the National Youth Data Bank to identify young Nigerians aged 15 to 35 and match them with real opportunities in technology, agriculture, creative arts, and sports.
The project was unveiled in Abuja by the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, to solve the existing centralized data challenge of young Nigerians.
According to the ministry, knowing who young Nigerians are, where they live, and what skills they possess will make it much easier to design effective jobs, training, and funding programs.
“We want everybody included. We want to know the youth in agriculture, sports, creative tech, and beyond. That way, when job opportunities or training packages come up, we know exactly who needs what”, Olawande.
Olawande also made it clear that the registration is an ongoing development program for long-term planning, not a temporary initiative due to election cycles.
Physical registration cluster points are being set up across secondary schools, polytechnics, universities, and colleges of education to make it accessible to everybody.
The ministry also said that field enumerators will be deployed to wards across all 774 local government areas to register residents in person.
