President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, on his birthday, describing him as an audacious and results-driven public servant and one of the shining stars in his cabinet.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Wike for his exceptional performance aimed at transforming the Federal Capital Territory through infrastructure expansion.
Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, was appointed FCT Minister in August 2023, despite belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Since his assumption into office, Wike has been working tirelessly to complete stalled infrastructure projects within Abuja and its satellite towns, which earned him the nickname “Mr. Project.”
The President mentioned Wike’s intervention that resolved the 14-year deadlock on the construction of the Apo-Karshi Road, intended to ease congestion for commuters living in the area. This intervention involved terminating the contract with the previous non-performing contractor and re-awarding it to a new firm, SCC, under an emergency arrangement in late November 2025.
President Tinubu commended Wike’s resilience, stating that his commitment to excellence has resulted in visible improvements across the FCT. President Tinubu stated that Wike has proven that his “Mr Project” nickname is not limited to his home state of Rivers. President Tinubu wished Wike renewed strength as he continued his work to advance development.
