Man flees after allegedly attacking girlfriend with acid in Edo State

Edo State Police, have launched a manhunt for a man identified as Timothy Gilbert, who is currently on the run after allegedly bathing his girlfriend, Angela Ogah, with a substance suspected to be acidic.

The incident occurred in Amufi area of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The victim, Ms. Ogah, sustained severe injuries and is currently hospitalized, battling for her life.

Acid attacks, while less common than other forms of domestic violence, are typically premeditated acts intended to cause permanent disfigurement or death. The suspect, Timothy Gilbert, fled the scene immediately following the assault.

Angela Ogah was admitted to a private hospital and was reported to be in severe pain and barely able to speak when visited by journalists. John Izegaegbe, the lawyer of the victim, formally petitioned the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, calling for the arrest and prosecution of the fleeing suspect.

The Edo State Police has currently launched a manhunt across the Amufi area of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, to apprehend the suspect in order to enforce justice.
