The Toyota Hilux vehicle that was stolen from the convoy of the Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, inside the Government House has been successfully recovered.
The Deputy Governor’s office confirmed the vehicle was traced and recovered in the early hours of Wednesday following an operation by security operatives.
A permanent and pensionable driver linked to the Deputy Governor’s office has been arrested as the key suspect in connection with the theft, which the office has categorized as a clear breach of trust.
The theft of the official vehicle on Monday morning from within the supposedly secure Kano State Government House had raised serious alarm over security lapses at the seat of power. The rapid recovery, confirmed by the Deputy Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Garba, is expected to alleviate some of these security concerns.
The Deputy Governor’s Office publicly commended the prompt response and professionalism of the Police and other security agencies involved, using the recovery to reassure the public that the security of lives and property remains the top priority of the Kano State Government.
