The Chief of Air Staff (CAS) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has summoned all Air Component Commanders to Abuja and issued a direct order to intensify precision air operations against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements across Nigeria.
During the meeting in Abuja, the Air Chief mandated the NAF to deliver ‘smarter, harder, and more decisive firepower’, stressing that operations henceforth must be driven by superior intelligence.

It is of no doubt that Nigeria has been battling with multifaceted security challenges, including the Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgency in the North-East, banditry and kidnapping rings in the North-West, and various criminal groups operating nationwide. The new leadership under Air Marshal Aneke is seeking to enhance the effectiveness of the operations of the NAF, and also supporting ground forces across numerous operational theaters.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) are saddled with the responsibility of restoring stability and protecting citizens in regions where land access is often difficult or compromised by the activities of non-state actors.
We will continue to work closely with the sister services and other security agencies to ensure a united front in the fight against terrorism and criminality – Air Marshal Aneke
The strategic meeting was convened to synchronize strategies and implement shift towards agility, precision, and intelligence-driven strikes, to minimize collateral damage and increase the impact of air strikes, and also strengthening cooperation with sister’s agencies like the Army and Navy to achieve joint mission success.
