Residents of Buni Yadi in Yobe State have been actively engaged in a registration campaign to foster Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) registration and to increase civic participation ahead of the 2027 general elections, following INEC’s call to commence voter enrollment.
The outreach organized by the Buni Yadi Community Development group went door to door within the Gujba Local Government Area, encouraging citizens to embrace their voting rights not merely as a procedural step but as a civic duty to shape the nation’s democratic future.
Comrade Abubakar Ali, chairman of the organization overseeing the campaign, emphasized that the objective is to register over 3,000 people, including many eligible first-time voters. He expressed optimism about the enthusiastic response so far, emphasizing that the project is a shared commitment to political awareness and youth empowerment.
This engagement is more than just signing up voters. It is about claiming control over our destiny and making sure our voices are fully represented at the polls – Ali
Abubakar Gambo, another campaigner, reinforced this message, stressing the essential role voter registration plays in guaranteeing citizens’ representation. He referred to this outreach as one among several youth-led movements advocating active civic engagement across the state.
This mobilization is expected to strengthen democratic involvement across the area. The organizers remain dedicated to sustaining such campaigns, urging all eligible voters to complete the process and exercise their rights responsibly in the upcoming election cycle.
