Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci officially kicked off her attempt to prepare the world’s biggest pot of Nigerian jollof rice yesterday, Friday at Lagos’s Eko Hotel and Suites.
Baci, who set the Guinness record in 2023 for the longest cooking marathon, is leading the “Gino Jollof Festival” in collaboration with culinary brand Gino. This grand celebration features a specially crafted pot standing six metres tall and wide, designed to hold rice from 250 bags.
Bolaji Idowu, lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, offered prayers and blessings for the venture. The occasion attracted a lively crowd, including popular social media influencers like Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James, all present to support the spectacular project.
The gathering has drawn a diverse audience, with food lovers, millennials, Gen Z, and celebrities filling the venue. Organizers revealed that over 20,000 individuals registered for the free festival.
Baci reassured attendees that the preparation would be both hygienic and delicious, promising an experience that would set new records for Nigerian jollof rice.
