Security forces from the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly killed a dozen suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents and retrieved arms and supplies during recent operations in Mafa, Borno State.

Mafa, situated roughly 60 kilometers from Maiduguri in Borno Central Senatorial District, became the focus of a decisive military sweep conducted between August 29 and 30, 2025. The armed engagement saw members of the task force working closely with local security personnel to dismantle insurgent strongholds in several communities.

A reliable source within the military, requesting anonymity, explained that the combined efforts successfully cleared out hostile elements from areas including Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza. When the troops reached Loskori Kura, a key location known for terrorist activity, they engaged in fierce combat that resulted in the neutralization of 12 militants.

The same source revealed that beyond the elimination of these fighters, the forces recovered an arsenal that included eight AK-47 rifles along with their magazines fully stocked with 7.62mm rounds. The cache included medicinal supplies and narcotics frequently used by the insurgents to sustain their operations.

The military leadership has praised the troops for their determination and resilience throughout the campaign, calling on them to maintain momentum in the counterterrorism efforts in the region.

The military aims to further weaken terrorist capabilities and restore normalcy to affected communities. Officials remain hopeful that persistent efforts will gradually bring lasting peace to the troubled region.
