‎‎President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Col. Mohammed Mana (rtd), a respected former military administrator of Plateau State and senator, who passed away early Saturday in Abuja.

‎The late Col. Mana, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), represented Adamawa North Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011. Beyond his legislative duties, he was known for chairing the party’s Reconciliation Committee in Adamawa State until his passing.

‎During his military tenure, Mana served as the governor of Plateau State from 1993 to 1996 under General Sani Abacha’s regime. His time in office was marked by efforts to ease ethnic tensions in Jos by establishing commissions aimed at resolving conflicts among local tribes. After retiring in 1999 as a Brigadier General, he transitioned to a political role where he passionately pursued national development.

‎In a condolence message delivered by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Col. Mana as a “distinguished patriot and officer gentleman” devoted to Nigeria’s progress both in uniform and in public service.

‎The President acknowledged Mana’s dedication to fostering unity and promoting the common good, stressing the profound loss felt by his family, friends, and political colleagues.

‎Col. Mohammed Mana was not only a committed public servant but also a unifying force whose wisdom helped steer many through turbulent times.
‎His legacy as a leader of integrity and dedication will endure in the hearts of all who knew him – President Tinubu said

Tinubu extended sympathies to the residents and government of Adamawa State, noting that many within the APC benefited greatly from Mana’s guidance and wisdom. He prayed for tranquility for the departed soul and strength for the family during this difficult period.

‎The nation mourns the loss of a honourable leader whose impact spanned both military command and civilian governance.  Supporters call for continued efforts toward peace and reconciliation, values he championed throughout his life.
