National Assembly has been enjoined to incease Budgetary Allocation to the Nigerian Army.
The Sokoto state Deputy Governor of Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir made the plea at a Lunch organised in honour of Members of the Senate Committee on Army who were on oversight function in Sokoto.
Alhaji Idris Gobir said that would enable them to have more equipment and training for effective discharge of their mandate.
“ Equipping Army with adequate and modern equipment would ensure effective protection of the Nation’s territorial integrity” he said.
According to him, the security challenges being faced in the country and the North -West in particular would reduce to the bearest minimum.
The Vice chairman of the senate Committee, Senator Cyril Fasuyi said they were in the state for an overnight function at the 8th Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto.
He used the opportunity to appeal to people to always give useful information to the Security Agencies about Bandits and other criminals
This according to him would assist Security Agencies to take prompt and appropriate action against any security threat.
The oversight function of the Senate Committee on Army came at the time that some parts of the state face serious security challenges due to activities of Bandits and Lakurawa.
